Valles Marineris, The Largest Canyon In The Solar System

The largest canyon in the solar system, a broad band crossing the disc of Mars. This huge valley called Valles Marineris , has a length of more than 4,000 kilometers , its width reaches 200 kilometers, and the depth of - 7 km.

For comparison, the Earth's Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA has a length of 800 kilometers, 30 kilometers wide and the depth of 1.8 kilometer

The origin of Valles Marineris remains unknown, although the most likely hypothesis is that it was formed as a crack billions of years ago when the planet cooled.

Shard Tower, The Qatar Architectural Masterpiece in London

Tower "Shard" ,which opened recently in the British capital, is the highest tower in Europe which is owned by Qatar to 95%.

Opened in London's a Tower which has a height of 310 meters, and is described as the tallest building in Western Europe as it prepares to host the Olympics. The Holy Mount Athos, Prohibited Locations Around The World

The Holy Mount Athos is an Orthodox monastic republic, which is located on the same eastern finger of the Halkidiki peninsula in the east of Greece.

It has an autonomous state under Greek sovereignty. The Republic is one of about 2,200 monastic inhabitants and covers 336 square kilometers.

On the peninsula there are 20 large monasteries, which is a UNESCO world heritage. Near the monasteries on Mount Athos there are also the so-called sketes. These are rural settlements where the buildings are laid around a monastic central building.

Olympus - The Highest Mountain In The Solar System

Olympus (lat. Olympus Mons) - an extinct volcano on Mars, the tallest mountain in the solar system. Before the spacecraft  flight (which showed that the Olympus - the mountain), this place was known to astronomers as Nix Olympica («Snows of Olympus" - due to a higher albedo).

The height of the Mount Olympus reaches  27 miles to its base and 25 km to the average level of the surface of Mars. This is several times higher than the highest mountains on Earth. Olympus extends for 540 km wide and has steep slopes at the edges up to 7 km. The reasons for the formation of these giant cliffs have not yet found a convincing explanation.
